This report was conducted by SGS Economics and Planning for the Library Board of Queensland, Australia, in September 2012.
Snippet:
For every $1 invested in Queensland Public Libraries they deliver $2.30 value to the community. New independent research commissioned by State Library of Queensland on behalf of public libraries proves and quantifies the value of public libraries.
In addition to the community value delivered by Queensland public libraries they also contribute an average of $478 million value to communities and nearly $300 million to the state’s gross product each year. The findings are impressive and support what we already knew – libraries are valued community assets. This research provides Public Library Managers with quantifiable and defendable data and the tools to champion your library services.
